Board of Trustees

GHI’s  Board of Trustees is comprised of experienced professionals with diverse backgrounds, including earthquake science and engineering, international development, architecture, law, finance, and urban planning. Each has longstanding, strong ties in academic, business or government sectors. 

Pat Arnett

Pat Arnett is Sector Manager of the New York City Buildings Sector at TYLin Group, a global engineering and advisory firm. He is also a Principal of Silman, a New York-based structural engineering firm that became part of TYLin in 2021. His structural engineering projects range from adaptive reuse to new construction for institutional and private clients, and his areas of expertise include adaptive reuse, vertical expansion, concrete design and steel design. Some of his notable projects are the Empire Stores renovation and redevelopment in Brooklyn, NY; the Siebel Center for Design at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and the Domino Sugar Refinery and Domino Park in Brooklyn, NY. Mr. Arnett has been a studio consultant for the Rice School of Architecture since 2011. He has taught at the New York College of Technology and consulted to studios at Columbia University and the Pratt Institute. He served on the Structural Engineers Association of New York (SEAoNY) Board of Directors from 2018-2024, and is a licensed Professional Engineer in New York, Wisconsin, Missouri and Utah. He was a professional mentor for Engineers Without Borders chapters at Princeton, Columbia, and Manhattan College. He has a M.Sc. in CivilStructural Engineering and a B.S. in Civil Engineering, both from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He joined the GeoHazards International Board in 2025.
